WHAT WE DO

Green and Gold Experiential Tourism in Bau
One of the pioneering projects under Sarawak Research Society under Responsible Borneo Initiatives, “Green and Gold Tourism Exploration in Bau Disitrict” focuses on community involvement and empowerment. Pilot studies were carried out in Taiton and Jalan Kuching-Bau and a series of dialogues were held with the community leaders and members. The purpose is to design experimental tours involving the host community and gather more inputs from tourism stakeholders before proposing responsible and experiential tourism packages in these areas and other destinations.

SEARA is about creating a space for students, young academics and practitioners in Southeast Asia to network and learn from one another. With the slogan Research for Sustainable Impact, SEARA vision is to transform research into practice via networking and collaborative learning. Although the members are geographically apart and have diverse backgrounds, they stay connected using the present technology. SEARA is not about providing a series of webinars or an intensive program. Instead, it is about bringing different minds and resources together to build a connected community that will in turn make a positive impact on others.

Responsible Youth Leader (RYL) Program
Responsible Youth Leader (RYL) program 2021-2022 is an initiative of Sarawak Research Society with the support from Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak, Southeast Asia Research Academy (SEARA), Emerald Publishing, Centre for Responsible Borneo (CRM). The program lasted for 12 weeks featuring 7 lectures, discussions, and group assignments with the participation of 27 youth leaders in Southeast Asian Region. The program achieves its purpose of creating an avenue for the youths to network, discuss on responsible tourism topics and apply it to their national contexts.
