Korean Night Enlivens ICRTH 2026 in Miri
ICRTH 2026 delegates experienced Korean culture during a special Korean Night held at the Musical Corridor, Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club in Miri.
The evening featured cultural performances, Korean cuisine and interactive activities, including the “Cuisine or Consequence” food quiz. The programme created an engaging platform for delegates to connect while learning more about Korean traditions.
Korean Night also reflected ICRTH 2026’s commitment to strengthening cultural exchange and meaningful connections among its international participants.
ICRTH 2026 Concludes Successfully in Sarawak
The sixth International Conference on Responsible Tourism and Hospitality concluded after a six-day programme in Miri, Sarawak. The event brought together government representatives, academics, tourism professionals and local communities to discuss digital innovation, human interaction and sustainable tourism development.
The programme featured workshops, conference sessions, the Responsible Tourism Awards Southeast Asia and field visits to Miri and Niah National Park. Participants explored topics such as inclusive tourism, youth empowerment, community-led destination management and responsible economic growth.
The article also announced that ICRTH 2027 will be hosted in South Korea, with the main conference taking place in Seoul and supporting activities held in Yeosu.

Miri’s Tourism Reputation
ICRTH 2026 is expected to strengthen Miri’s reputation as a leading tourism destination while promoting responsible, inclusive and sustainable tourism development.
Miri Mayor Adam Yii highlighted the city’s natural attractions, cultural diversity and modern facilities, which appeal to nature, adventure, cultural and business travellers.
ICRTH 2026 Brings Hot Air Balloon Experience to Local Communities
ICRTH 2026 welcomed children, patients, families and caregivers from the MRC Sunflower Centre, Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society and Palliative Care Association of Miri for a tethered hot air balloon experience at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club.
The initiative reflected the conference’s commitment to inclusive tourism by creating meaningful experiences and lasting memories for members of the local community.

Tripseed Wins Silver at the 2026
Responsible Tourism Awards
Thailand-based destination management company Tripseed received the Silver Award in the Local Economic Benefit category at the 2026 Responsible Tourism Awards Southeast Asia, held during ICRTH 2026 in Miri, Sarawak.
The company was recognised for transparent tax reporting, supporting local service providers and increasing tourism revenue retained within local communities. Tripseed also introduced policies to protect guide payments and encourage more travel during the low season.
Vietnam Tourism Talent Incubator Recognised at Responsible Tourism Awards 2026
Vietnam’s Culture and Tourism Talent Incubator was recognised at the Responsible Tourism Awards Southeast Asia 2026, presented during ICRTH 2026 in Malaysia.
The programme was honoured for developing young tourism professionals through training, mentoring, industry networking and practical learning while promoting responsible and sustainable tourism practices.
Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Magazine Partners with Prof. Dr. Hiram Ting (UN Tourism) on Responsible Tourism Development
On August 16, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Magazine met with Prof. Dr. Hiram Ting – member of the UN Tourism Expert Council – at Saigon Eco Green Co-operative’s specialty coffee space. Prof. Ting introduced the Responsible Tourism Awards in Southeast Asia (RT Award), a non-profit initiative honoring individuals, organizations, and businesses pioneering sustainable tourism. Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Thi Thu Ha expressed interest in collaborating with the RT Award to promote participation from Vietnam’s tourism community and to potentially host the awards ceremony in Vietnam in the future. The meeting highlighted new opportunities for cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Magazine, RT Award, and the sustainable tourism community.

Human Behaviour Analysis Practitioner Course
Attended the two-day Human Behaviour Analysis Practitioner Course conducted by Mr. Winston Chang, REBORN’s Strategic Business Partner at Wisma Chemsains, Kuching on 22 and 23 May 2025. The course offered practical insights into understanding human behaviour through patterns, non-verbal cues, and personality dynamics. Grateful for the opportunity to learn from an experienced practitioner.

Southeast Asia
The Responsible Tourism Workshop in Southeast Asia was held over three days from May 10 to 12, 2025, in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. Attended by tourism experts, academics, and industry players from across Southeast Asia, the workshop focused on developing sustainable tourism practices. Key outcomes include the creation of a Responsible Tourism Module and strategic collaboration between the Journal of Responsible Tourism Management and Emerald Publishing. The event also featured cultural site visits, such as the Paku Rock Maze Garden, and discussions about the upcoming 5th ICRTH in the Philippines. The workshop highlighted regional cooperation and practical strategies to promote responsible tourism in Southeast Asia.

Bhutanese Delegation Visits Sarawak for Sustainable Tourism Exchange
From October 24 to 27, 2024, Responsible Borneo had the honor of hosting 11 high-ranking officials from Bhutan, famously known as the "happiest country in the world." This enriching visit was part of Bhutan’s initiative to integrate biodiversity conservation into tourism under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) project, reflecting the country’s commitment to balancing environmental sustainability with economic development.
