Our Solidarity and Commitment to Responsible Actions for Sustainable Development

About The Conference
International Conference on Responsible Tourism and Hospitality (ICRTH) is an academic cum professional (industry) event that aims to advance the discourse on responsible tourism for sustainable development. The conference was initially scheduled on 12-14 August 2020. However, due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in March 2020 and the uncertainty it entailed, the plan to organise ICRTH only happened on 27-28 May 2021 where it attracted approximately 3,500 virtual delegates from 96 countries. With the ease of movement restrictions and gradual return of international travel, ICRTH2022 was held using a hybrid mode at UCSI Hotel Kuching Campus (Sarawak, Malaysia) on 1-3 September 2022. While the conference also attracted many online delegates, it was physically attended by more than 250 delegates from 27 countries.
This year, ICRTH expands its footprints to be hosted by IPB University Bogor Campus (Indonesia) on 21-25 August 2023 with the theme “Reviving Tourism through Green Investment”. Investments are crucial from a strategic perspective for the tourism sector and its recovery from the COVID-19 epidemic. The emphasis on green investments highlights the sector's ability to use its global significance to create beneficial contributions that go beyond tourism itself as well as its role in responding to climate emergencies.
ICRTH2023 is organised by Sarawak Research Society (Malaysia) and co-hosted with IPB University Bogor Campus (Indonesia). The conference receives support from the local authority (Bogor Mayor), national and international government (the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Indonesia and the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak Malaysia), tourism bodies (World Tourism Organization UNWTO and Pacific Asia Travel Association PATA), associations (Emerald Publishing and Southeast Asia Research Academy), institutions (Universitas Asa Indonesia) and communities.
